Extension at Kirby Cane

Before we started this project, we located the drains for the house and checked for other earthworks we would have to consider before digging the foundations. Once these had all been checked, we dug the foundations and poured the concrete. Next, engineering bricks were laid up to the damp course, with double skin block work up to the plate height.

We installed roof timbers for the flat roof and a roof lantern, giving the roof an angle of ten degrees to allow the water to run off. It was boarded and insulated and then made watertight by covering it with fibreglass and resin before painting. Type 1 crushed concrete was laid on the floor and levelled out to allow a damp-proof membrane and a floor screed to be put down.

Bifold doors chosen by the customer were installed and sealed from the elements, fascia and guttering fitted and external block work rendered.

Finally, the internal walls were boarded and plastered, ready for our client.
